On the less obvious differences between Weibo-Go and douban'er
(1) Weibo-Go has always been more heavy on the comments. On the other hand, douban'er will place greater emphasis on the body text.

On comments
Each post will have five comments translated. These five are the top comments. The reason why only five are translated is because douban singles them out as the top five comments, the rest are in chronological order and not in accordance to likes. However, as mentioned above, the body text will generally be longer than Weibo-Go's.

Other questions about the translations
-Why are the punctuations different from the original comments? etc. Translations used to be done as literally as possible based on the belief and desire for readers to form their own inference and judgment based on the original comment rather than from the translator's understanding of the said comment (which means the goal was to minimize the effect the translator has on the reader's perception of the original comment). However, such translation has led to responses such as 'What does this mean then?' 'I don't get it though.' etc. These responses make sense considering the drastic differences between two languages. For example, XX may be a simple slang in A language but be considered offensive in B language. Sometimes, when word for word translation is made, the meaning is changed instead. Therefore, translations now aren't as literal, but rather, an attempt at delivering the gist of it is made. Another reason is that as the frequency of our translations increase, efficiency becomes more important and a literal translation is more time-consuming. Once again, none of the translations are professionally done and as humans there are times errors are made. Feel free to send an email if you feel the need to. Discussions are welcomed and necessary changes will be made.
